Westcon adds to UK voice team

Westcon Group has unveiled former Siemens high-flyer Neil Moulton as head of voice sales in the UK. The newly-created position represents the latest development in the distributor's convergence push.

On top of overseeing Westcon's UK voice sales strategy, Moulton is charged with communicating to partners how the distributor's voice sales effort is organised. This includes promoting Westcon's convergence programmes VoicePoint and OneVoice.

Having spent ten years as a channel supremo at German communications behemoth Siemens and a shorter spell at Cisco, Moulton can draw on a wealth of industry experience in his new role. 'The demands on voice resellers are being driven by convergence,' he says. 'They need support from the distributors and vendors when taking on new markets.'

He adds: 'Westcon is the only distributor in the UK and even on a pan-European stage that has the ability to take partners forward in a collaborative way. The breadth of offering that Westcon has in terms of voice, data and security is unparalleled.'

Westcon's UK voice and convergence push centres around its two solutions programmes. VoicePoint, which offers resellers the skills to sell convergence solutions based around Avaya, Nortel and Mitel technology, has reeled in around 1,000 UK members since its launch three years ago. OneVoice provides a one-stop-shop for convergence solutions, only based around Cisco technology.

Moulton says his appointment is 'demonstrative of how serious Westcon is about voice' and is just part of an ongoing investment the distributor is making in this part of the market.

Commenting on the appointment, UK managing director Jon Pritchard adds: 'Neil will bring his valuable recent experience (at both Cisco and Siemens) to bear in helping us to bolster and promote our voice data convergence expertise and our suite of value added services offered through the group’s voice channel programmes.'
