Westcon Group Is Recognised as Comms Business ‘Distributor of the Year’

Slough, England, June 12, 2007--Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, was recognised as Comms Business ‘Distributor of the Year’ at an awards ceremony last Thursday. Simon Thompson, sales director of Westcon Group UK, accepted the award on behalf of Westcon Group. Gillian Earle, Westcon’s convergence sales specialist, was also recognised as ‘Channel Sales Person of the Year’. 

Comms Business’ ‘Distributor of the Year’ is awarded to the distributor who demonstrates excellence in channel development planning, training and accreditation. It also recognises the added value provided by the distributor to channel partners and the reseller community.

With regards to the distributor award the judges said, "In a departure from our reader vote this year, distributors had to convince the judges they were truly adding value to their reseller channel partners. Westcon's professional VoicePoint strategy was just one reason they were the judges’ choice for 2007." Regarding ‘Channel Sales Person of the Year’ they added: “Gill Earle of Westcon demonstrated a clear understanding of the market and how she was going to help her resellers win business with Mitel systems."
