Westcon Group Joins Global Technology Distribution Council

TARRYTOWN, NY, September 26, 2006 —Westcon Group, Inc., a $2 billion multi-national technology distributor with over 1,000 employees worldwide, announced that it has joined the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC).  Member distributors of the GTDC collectively represent more than $80 billion in annual worldwide sales.  The organization is dedicated to defining and promoting the role of wholesale distribution in a successful and healthy information technology (IT) channel.

Westcon Group decided to join the GTDC following an invitation that was extended previously.  By gaining membership to this influential channel organization, the Company plans to engage collaboratively in discussions to help promote and shape efficient business practices in the IT channel and specifically distribution.

The GTDC currently has 13 members including Westcon Group, representing companies in North America, Europe and Asia.  In addition to serving its own member community, the organization also strives to provide value to vendors, analysts and the press by engaging in detailed research projects and holding significant industry events such as the Global Technology Distribution Summit.
